ouch, we definitely disagree. I grew up in the state of New York and lived in Philadelphia so I have been to NYC at least 100 times. I also lived in the Bay Area for 12 years. NYC's food has definitely improved a lot in the last 15 years but the real difference is price. In NYC you sure can eat well, but you have to pay a lot for it, if not you eat very mediocre food. In the Bay Area the food quality overall is superior in all price ranges. IE you don't have to be rich to eat healthy decent food. For me that is more important. Sure the "star" restaurants are mostly in NYC but postal workers and teachers can eat well in SF. In my always humble opinion. Thanks for stopping by though. Where in NYC do you like to eat? I don't find the food in Toulouse, where I live, to be great, but most people think it is fantastic. To each his own, unless you have all the answers like me.

I'm from New York City and San Francisco has some of the THE worst food I've ever had the displeasure of tasting. I've tried Italian (good luck with that...the selection is horrid), sushi (I've actually found a few places that are quite good), Thai (I've had okay Thai there...but not great Thai), and I've tried Americana. I know a lot of people from the bay area rave about their food selection, but I must be missing it because I have yet to have anything comparable to what I'm able to get in NY. :O( Also, the selection of cuisine is so...LIMITED. I've found it hard to eat out there.

I'm going to try out this market you mentioned and see if I can find anything...thanks so much for recommending it.
