I did find another one, apart from the ones in the comments: http://www.studentteacherexchange.com/ which is completely free and uses chat/video/voice and whiteboards as well. They are new but my guess is they will be booming soon since they charge nothing.

I think Rosetta Stone is great but it is not cheap. If you have a real need to learn the language then I think Rosetta Stone is the way to go. If you have an interest in learning the language but might not stick to it then Rosetta Stone is an expensive hobby. I'd try some of the free online materials. It depends on your needs.

Esperanto is a man-made language, designed with the goal of being a common, international language. It has a group of adherents from around the world (or advocates?) who are quite vocal in its support. That's about all I know.

I've been debating over the Rosetta stone training materials. can't quite decide. hmmmm.

Hmm, not sure whether or not to consider the following comments spam or not. I had looked into edufire before but decided it was too much for not enough bang. Sorry, what the hell is Esperanto, at the risk of sounding ignorant(er)? If you are looking for free language learning resources I would suggest Livemocha, thanks cha cha fance and her webtools blog for the tip. If you are going to spend any money at all on language learning I highly recommend Rosetta Stone, it's expensive but I have not found anything close to what it offers. Maybe I will put an affiliate link to the body.

Hi all, I help out www.edufire.com and invite everyone to browse the site. I have found that livemocha.com is also a great tool for online language learning, but both sites have unique offerings that can aid with your language learning.

Let me know if you want to try a free one hour session.

Can I put in a word for Esperanto as well?

I suggest not because it is now a living language but because it has great propaedeutic values as well

You can see detail on http://www.lernu.net
