Last Day of the “language training course”

This is a little inside joke. I kept saying “stage” when referring to this training. Some of them said their previous English teachers told them you can’t say “stage” in English and you have to say training or continuing education. While I agree, I don’t think this weeklong intensive training course fits the description of a training or continuing ed so I kept calling it a “stage”. As the week went on their English got better but mine got worse.

For example by weeks end:
They really made the final “s” sounds at the ends of words
The explained to me instead of explained me
They proposed to me instead of proposing me
They described to me instead of describing me, although in theory it is possible
They knew when they were have a fun time rather than a funny time

By weeks end I:
started saying How do you call instead of what do you call, French speakers you will recognize this error
and more errors than I care to admit, after listening to and correcting their errors I starting making those errors sometimes, it was fun, I had a funny time.

Overall we, the teachers, received excellent feedback and evaluations and some great constructive criticism. We bonded well as a group and had a fantastic time. I will miss them all.
