Think good thoughts for Alessandro
Our friend Alessandro is back in Philadelphia for a few weeks. Why? He is defending his PhD dissertation today. Yes today, Monday May 19th. His dissertation is in the field of Sociology of Emotions dealing with caregivers. He was in the Sociology department at the University of Pennsylvania, which is where we met. Wish him luck so he can come back to Europe quickly, even if you don’t know him, though many of you do.
Bon chance, Allesandro! However, you are already lucky in having such great friends who are inviting luck on your behalf.
I have to confess some selfish reasons, we want him to get it over with so he can come back soon so we can visit with them, it has been hard to coordinate a visit with them while this was hanging over his head.

He sent an email yesterday to say it was all over and done with, now I have to call him Doctor Ale.
I was going to send my bet wishes, but it appears they’re no longer needed. Instead, I’ll wish him a safe and happy return to France.
Well his safe and happy return will be to the UK but it will be easier to visit him there.

I am looking forward to seeing you. Back to Europe, we’ll make plans, finally.
