Bill Maher: Panel discussion about Religion’s influence in politics

Bill Maher and Ingrid Newkirk by David ShankboneImage from WikipediaBill Maher hosts a panel of luminaries: Christopher Hitchens, Dan Savage, etc who discuss the impact of religion on the current presidential candidates. It is funny but also insightful. Not as long as the Parkour videos. How did we ever get ourselves in this mess. Why is it that candidates must beat their chests, scream at the top of their lungs, and proclaim their religious views loud and clear. At least here in France people don’t talk about religion in politics. I wonder if anyone really cares about separation of church and state. I wonder how many people even know what the argument for it is.

  1. “the Antichrist as the head of the EU will have a war with China in Jerusalem”!!!

    OMG, the prediction is true!!! Sarkozy will be the head of the Union in a few weeks and China is now pissed at France…

    (I’m still trying to fit Jerusalem in somehow, I’ll get back to you once I’ve done it)

  2. Anyone who was disappointed in the outcome of the last presidential election KNOWS what the separation of church and state means.

    I disagree. I was a teacher for nearly 10 years and many parents who would have described themselves as Democrats were the same parents who were always asking for some kind of religious club at school, or they wondered why religion couldn’t play a larger role in schools, etc. It wasn’t always the super right wing nut jobs.

    @David
    Doom is coming with or without Jerusalem.
