Toulouse initiatives
Toulouse is a beautiful city but people still really make no effort to pick up their dog poop. There are little piles everywhere. I once saw a woman with her dog and the dog was pooping in front of a trash can and there was a dispenser with bags right there. Since I am not yet able to reprimand with confidence in French, I opted for the silent stare, to which she replied with a shoulder shrug and a show of her palms, “What can you do she seemed to say”. I started researching a little and I found out that the city has started a program to get people to clean up after their dogs. I found this cute little graphic that promotes the program, I hope it is not too small to see it.
This is just me, but I would make a copy of that graphic and carry it around with me and every time I saw the same sight you encountered, I would show that sign to the offender. If he/she didn’t scoop after that, I would pretend to phone the police and report him/her. It might not work, but it damned sure would annoy/scare him.her.
There are supposed to be poster sized versions of that flyer that you can get from the neighborhood mairies to put in places in your neighborhood that people leave a mess. I’m thinking of doing it at the dog park by us. People leave that place messy.
