Ragga Dance class

What is ragga anyway, I guess it is short for raggamuffin or some variation of dancehall reggae. It sounded like hip-hop influenced reggae to me. I took the class anyway because I miss taking hip-hop dance classes. I’m not a huge fan but I do have fun and like to take a class once in awhile.

Once again the class was fantastic. The classes at this gym have been great and the music the teachers play has been good too. The teacher was young but very energetic and helpful. She did not speak English but she really tried to help me when I was flailing around like the village idiot. She even tried not to laugh, it was impossible to stop entirely though, even Jean-Jacques stood around the corner laughing at me.

She played interesting music that I had not really heard before. No matter how mixed up I got I still enjoyed the music. The class was nearly finished and I picked up most of the routine so I didn’t stand out so much and then she started doing spotlights. Everyone from the left side of the room did the routine while the right side watched. Then the right side danced. Then her regulars danced and showed us how it was supposed to be done. Then only the women. Then only the men. Well there were 2 of us. I laughed because I thought she was just kidding. Nope I had to go out and do the routine with the only other guy in class, the one who knew it already and could do it very well, while the 25 or so other women looked on. It was humbling, and as Jean-Jacques says, good for me.

I haven’t been back to that class but I’m sure I will go again. It’s mostly that it is late, 7:45 - 9 PM on Monday night. I have to really want to go to get there. Maybe Jean-Jacques can take a short video of me doing the dance so you too can laugh. Going to the gym sure is fun!

Not so similar but good nonetheless
