I have been getting emails saying readers enjoy the blog but were expecting more practical info about moving to France, living in France, and coping in France. I would like to cover these issues but in a funny and narrative way. I have no interest in writing some purely informational blog. I am going to try to include very practical info. For those of you who already live in France and have gone through what I try to describe please feel free to chime in. Even put a link to your blog if you cover similar issues, it’s fine, I’m all for the free flow of info. Some topics I would like to cover:
- Student VISA’s
- Opening a bank account
- Getting a phone, TV, internet provider (Free, Orange, Neuf, Club Internet, Numericable)
- Toulouse History
- Unique things about Toulouse
- funny offbeat things

There are several blogs in which valuable information is given. The Bold Soul (http://www.theboldsoul.com/)
Americans in France (http://www.americansinfrance.net/
This French Life (http://www.thisfrenchlife.com/)
Transitions Abroad (http://www.transitionsabroad.com/publications/magazine/0001/moving_to_france.shtml)
Okay, most of these are NOT blogs, but they do contain valuable information. I hope it helps.
Thanks for the sites. I need to do some reasearch to complement my experience. I do want to provide some practical info and these sites look promising. It is a shame when an embassy website, an offical government agency website, is so outdated it cannot be trusted.
ok i looked on how to contact you on i have found your posts very helpful but have some questions i think you might be able to help me with
so if you could email me at sweettt2022@hotmail.com i would appreciate it ty and keep up the good work
You’ll find plenty of information on living in France, moving to France, and doing lots of other things in France on http://about-france.com, which has practical information on a whole range of tipics concerning France and life in France
Thanks, that does have some useful info on it. I can always brush up on my French info, I am often asked.

I have written some advice posts for people moving to France but aimed at the UK population rather than the American population. There may be some overlap there but the legal side of residency will be much different because all we need to do is move here and after 6 months you are a French resident. It is a bit different for our American friends.
Yes, the requirements are quite different. When I was looking to move to France I found a lot of advice aimed at UK residents. It was good for how to get certain things done but to get a carte de séjour etc, it wasn’t too useful. You are lucky to be part of Europe. It simplifies things a little, although life in France can still be complicated.
Thanks for visiting.
Oh forgot to say the layout of your new blog looks great, good job.
I was putting it off, making a new layout, but then I stumbled across this one. I am going to change it little by little. I know one should do it all first then make it live, but I found that just made me procrastinate more. It is more of a news theme so it is more like a site than a traditional blog.
