Galvani, 45 ans d’avant-garde, Espace Croix Baragnon

We went to our first gallery opening in Toulouse. Many of you know that Jean-Jacques and I had a gallery for 4 years in Philadelphia, Jean-Jacques Gallery. We had openings every month on First Friday. It was such a relief to go to a big premier and not have to do a single thing in preparation, except count exactly how many steps there were to the stairs going from the 1st floor to the 2nd, 24 in case you are still wondering. Note to self . . . Where did I put my anti-anxiety medication?

Galvani is a collector who lives in Toulouse and has had a contemporary furniture store since the 60’s I think. He also has a large warehouse which houses his private collection. The show is a wide variety of furniture and lighting from luminaries like Arad, Le Corbusier, Van der Rohe, etc. If you like contemporary furniture you should take a look at this show. Of special note is the light fixture to the right when you walk in the front door. A special technician was flown out to do the installation. I won’t include a picture so you have to go see it at the show, that and I forgot to bring my camera to the opening.

I tried to find the website for the gallery but had no luck. It is a city run gallery so there are mentions of it on the Mairie website but I found nothing just for the gallery. Here is a link that you can use to get more info. This one has some pictures but I highly recommend going to the show, go to Galvani’s store after, it’s just across the street.
