We went to Bordeaux just for a couple of days to visit some new friends. We didn’t get too lost going there, although we are leaning heavily towards getting a GPS. On Sunday morning we went to the old port, where it is now a bustling market only on Sundays complete with eating areas for your recently purchased anything, including wine. Specialities are huitres or oysters and white wine. Jean-Jacques and Alain had oysters but I had the shrimp. I stopped being vegetarian a few years ago but oysters are something I still cannot consider eating. After strolling through the market we took a grand tour of the city and then settled in for lunch in a Morroccan neighborhood where we had tagines. We have been through Bordeaux before and even spent an afternoon there last summer but we never had as nice of an impression as we had this weekend.

I’ve always wanted to get to know Bordeaux better. I understand it’s really changed over the past 10 or 15 years, for the better.
