A bit too racy for the US. I thought they were spoofs, but no they are the real thing.I am trying to update them a little.

You got me again. I was going to post all the Ikea videos I saw here. I even started a channel on youtube to collect them, but I have lost my way. There was a German campain that got stopped… It was making fun of the swedes and Kamprad didn´t like it.

i have seen some of these on TV. they only show them after ten and they’re so funny they make u want 2 buy ikea furniture so they work! americans are 2 uptight to show them Ikea would probably get sued if they were shown there!
I looked for the boing boing one. I couldn’t find it but I think I have seen it. I didn’t realize there were some restrictions to when these could be shown even in Europe. That’s okay, at least they get shown. It is very strange because there are things nearly as racy that are allowed to be shown but not these. Maybe these are too realistic, not overly fantastical. Who knows.

That’s what is amusing to me, they aren’t that racy but if you have watched TV in the US and seen the commercials you might understand. I am still under the impression that these commercials would never air in the US.
I don’t know why we won’t air these. We have way worse comericials. Just look up Enzyte on YouTube and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I think perhaps the type of Americans Ikea tries to target over here has had something to do with them not using this ad campaign. Either that or the censors has rejected them so we will appear more upstanding to foriegn countries. ;P
Well that is a common criticism I hear in France about the US. It tries to look upstanding and hide it’s flaws rather than face reality. So I guess if the US doesn’t allow commercials like this to air then it can claim some kind of moral superiority. It’s not like people wouldn’t find it funny or even relate to them but we must be properly offended first to show we will not tolerate such things. I don’t know, they are funny though.

ikea? really? i don’t find them that funny. They should have an ad where some guy has a small wrench and has 1000000 screws and some plywood. That would be true and sad and funny all the same.

I haven’t seen many Ikea ads here in France for a while. They must be sending all the ads your way. Not that the ones in English were shown here, but there were plenty of others.
