Moving is no joke

Well the good news is that everything is proceeding sort of smoothly now. I got all the info I needed for my student VISA. The problem I ran into is that my passport expires April of 2008 and it has to be valid for 3 months beyond when my VISA will be valid. My VISA will expire one year from about now. Sooooooo we both had to renew our passports, Jean-Jacques’ passport expires in like 8 days. We got expedited service, I hope it comes as fast as they say it will. Then I can apply for my VISA, but I have to go to the Embassy in DC. I guess then I can buy tickets, maybe we’ll do it before then to get a better deal. THEN when we get to France I’ll have to go to the Mairie, town hall, and aply for my carte du sejour and work permit, the fun just never ends, thanks Government Issue.

No matter how many ducks you line up in a row and how cute they are there is always that ugly little duckling sticking its unkempt mess out. I think we’ve made peace with him, it has to be a him.

Not so similar but good nonetheless

Oooh if you think that spells fun, just wait until you come up against French bureaucracy! So much for art de vivre ;)
Looking forward to welcoming you guys to Toulouse!
You’re missing out on all the hunky boys in tight shorts at the moment - the Rugby World Cup is in full swing.

Well, when we moved from CA to Philadelphia, we thought we stepped back in time in terms of bureaucracy, more European like. I’m convincing myself it has prepared me to face les fonctionaires (sp?), I’m sure it has not. Getting my VISA, no getting information to get my VISA has been quite challenging so I’m under no delusions so far. It better be worth it because EVERYTHING has been a hurdle to jump over not to mention a fiery ring to go through.

If only we could see some of those rugby guys jump through fiery hoops!
